MODUS VIVENDI
The Power Of Suggestion
Review by Beyond - The Rock 'n Metal Webzine
Style: Prog Metal
Format: demo MCD
Lenght: 23'37"
Country: Australia
As their patronyms
clearly indicate, these five Australians originate from very different
cultures. Impressive, how they managed to form such wonderful unity in
their music despite their young age. All the more astonishing is the fact
that we are holding a Prog Metal slice here and that this style usually
requires a fair dose of craftsmanship. Modus Vivendi does great, though,
almost as if they have been doing this for decades. Not to worry about
these youngsters who play the game like professionals. When you listen
to the three tracks on "The Power Of Suggestion", you easily
notice that the major influences are hard to spot for they blend so well.
One thing’s certain: all the bands in the genre are there, be it
Dream Theater, Pain Of Salvation, Symphony X or Shadow Gallery.
The compositions are extremely convincing, to a point where you would’ve wished for a bigger sound the better to enjoy them. Financial matters being what they are, however, we are in for a small prod. With such potential it’s just a matter of time though: the album contract must be within reach. At least, that’s what I truly hope!
